Richmond blends modern convenience and small-town charm. This small city, home to approximately 12,000 residents, is ideal for buyers looking to escape the hectic urban bustle without sacrificing access to the essentials — be it shopping centers, great schools, or a diverse dining scene.

Richmond is also ideal for history buffs who appreciate living in an area that’s steeped in Old World charm. The city’s origins can be traced back to 1821 when a group of colonists under Stephen Fuller Austin established Fort Bend near modern-day Richmond. Upon incorporation in 1837, it became part of the 19 cities that formed the short-lived Republic of Texas (1836-1846).

Today, Richmond is known as a tight-knit suburb that has convenient access to Houston via US Highway 90 and Interstate 69. Homes in the city, with prices usually ranging from $200,000 to $600,000, have ample space for a yard and a number of outdoor amenities. Most housing units you’ll find are single-family homes, but there’s also a very small selection of condos and townhouses.
