Sugar Land is an expansive suburb that’s popular for its superb quality of life. Home to over 111,000 people, this fast-growing community is the largest city in Fort Bend County. With its gorgeous master-planned communities, excellent schools, and an array of premier amenities (from golf courses to nationally renowned museums), Sugar Land is a dream come true for potential home buyers.

The city’s name hearkens back to the 1800s when much of the area was still a sugar plantation. At the turn of the century, several individual plantations were subsumed by the Imperial Sugar Company, which transformed the community into a thriving company town. Sugar Land was incorporated as a city in 1959.

The city has come a long way since those early days. Farmland was transformed into beautiful subdivisions and master-planned communities that encompass parks, man-made lakes, and country clubs. Sugar Land homes will set you back anywhere from as low as $280,000 to over $7 million. The housing inventory is mostly composed of spacious single-family homes, with a small selection of well-adorned condos and townhome units.
